Dear Fellow Norwegian/Americans, Summer 2006
Last year was an important year for Norway. They celebrated the Centennial of the Independence of Norway.
The Norwegian/American Foundation at www.Norway.com challenged us to hold 1000 Celebrations in America honoring Norway in 2005. We continue to honor our ties to a country where millions of us share ancestral ties.
To help raise money for your events and my rosemaling exhibits and presentations we have put together fundraising projects for your organization. We can help each other develop some great events.
From the 1800's rosemaling of a Master rosemaler, we have designed two rosemaled window clings and replicated the wonderful design by Knut Mevastaul into prints to be framed and coordinating laminated placemats in 10 colors, with other products in planning stages.
We pay tribute to a country that has special bonds with America: Discovery of America 1000 years ago by Leif Erickson, 850,000 emigrants left Norway resulting in more of Norwegian descent in the United States and Canada than in Norway.
As a tribute to Norway Lorna Anderson will be doing presentations & exhibits
throughout the Midwest (USA) and in Norway and continue to write and publish
pertinent Norwegian /American books.
We hope to develop a Telemark Rosemaling Display as
well as share the work of a rosemaling master.
Lorna Anderson would like to go to Norway in 2007 for the Centennial tour to Telemark:
- Give a number of Presentations in Norway with the Rosemaling Exhibit
- To research for a book on Telemark Rosemaling
- To share the newly published book History of the Norwegian Settlements
