Hjalmar Holand learned about the Kensington, MN rune stone as he was
traveling collecting stories for his book on
Norwegian
settlements. The Ohman family found the stone in 1898, in the roots of a tree.
Holand spent the next 55 years of his life, trying to prove the rune stone was
authentic and to verify the Nordic travels.
The best book ever written of this wonderful Norwegian mystery is also available: “The Kensington Rune Stone – Compelling New Evidence” written by Scott Wolter and Richard Nielsen. They have combined 25 years of research in the most complete rune stone book: over 600 pages, geological summaries, colored pictures, 700 illustrations & documents. $29.95
The 3rd is a book by Princess Mårtha
Louise of Norway. She has written a delightful story of her grandfather,
King
Olaf when he was a small boy. “Why Kings and Queens Don’t Wear
Crowns” has been on the best-seller list for Norwegian/Americans since
published in English last fall. She has had three U.S. book-signing tours and a
sellout at all of them. A CD of her reading the book is also included upon
request. Lorna took this photo at the Høstfest in Minot, ND in October of
2005.

Book Signing by Princess Mårtha Louise of Norway - Why Kings and Queens Don’t Wear Crowns
Many Norwegian/American researchers feel there are at least 30 million persons in America with one or more ancestors from Norway. These books honor the tie to Norway and provide materials for family genealogical and historical research. More than a dozen stops at Museums and Public Libraries around Minnesota and North Dakota have produced overwhelming interest in adding these three Norwegian/American books to their libraries.
Not available through your usual sources for books, but wonderful additions for your readers.
The books are obtainable from Lorna Anderson at Norway Innovation
